WCF 2.17.12

We finally got a few pictures at the dining hall! Notice how the plates are empty, we planned that so folks couldn’t see how “healthy” we eat on Fridays. The group took the usual walk over to theater class and enjoyed the hour and a half with a great group of theater folks. A new game we have yet to play was introduced by Sara, a UNH Theater major, about passing a cat. At first this imaginary cat was getting lots of love and being passed around very gently and kindly. Then we found out the imaginary cat had fleas, and then was on fire and then this cat started to morph into strange animals and we had to let him go. After that hardship of letting go of a new pet we played the mirror game with a partner, which is always fun. The class ended with practicing Grease Lightening and the word of the day. Outside the brothers and sisters were waiting to take our group over to the Alpha Xi Delta house for some old school board games and cookie decorating. Please look at the pictures, they sure do speak for themselves and won’t disappoint!

Theater class encouraged others to copy, mimic and follow the leader today. With the mirror exercise, students take turns being the leader and have their partner copycat exactly what they are doing. Depending on how cruel one wants to be this activity can set one up for a lengthy amount of time in very silly situations. Folks are lucky they stayed away from Miss Amanda otherwise they would be pretending to pick their nose while doing the chicken dance. On a more serious note Grease will be a high light of this semester’s theater production and folks are more than excited to be so familiar with their work. Who doesn’t know the dance moves to Grease Lighting?  Who hasn’t  pretended to be Danny or Sandy during the song Summer Nights?! This is classic stuff and right up Wildcats ally. After class the group walked on over to Holloway Commons for some tasty grub and social time with the other folks that came to campus on the Wildcat Transit. When the groups broke down, group one found themselves hiking across campus to Jesse Doe Hall where the awesome residents passed out Jesse Doe tee-shirts to decorate and had a bunch of craft projects to share with everyone. Between the decoupage, button making and tee shirt decorating, folks mingled and had a ball among new friends.

Fridays at UNH start at Stillings Dining Hall.  We like to carbo load before we hike across campus and start doing theater excercises. One would think theater is  all about acting out scenes and singing but our folks really stretch out so dancing and other body manipulations are a bit easier after a nice meal.

Theater started off with the usual stretching and getting bodies ready to get into character, however no one knew what kind of characters would come out today at Wildcat Friends. Our very own Linette, actress extraordinaire, went to Boston before theater class to audition for a television pilot. Linette brought the very lines she had recited in front of a casting director to give our folks the experience as to what it’s really like to rehearse lines before presenting them. One by one each theater participant got up and took a stab at the lines, some even memorizing them right there and then. Everyone had a great time testing the waters and then folks jumped right into their own productions. Working on chorography and singing. When theater class was done folks did a round of pass the squeeze, when everyone stands in a circle and Linette squeezed the hand of the person next to her then one by one the squeeze gets passed through the group. Linette has started to time this so we will see how fast we can get the connection down as the semester goes. Folks that took the bus in today were a little late due to the bus system being behind. But everyone was in good spirits when our favorite bus driver Cliff pulled up with his big smile and warm bus!

WILDCATS 2.3.2012!

img_3231-small

Wildcats are back at it on Fridays! The Spring semester of 2012 started off on the right foot at Stillings Dining Hall, where the food is good and the company at the lunch table is even better! The group ate a healthy lunch then walked a portion of it off on the way over to the Durham Community Church. Linette didn’t waste any time and had us stretching our bodies to be limber for our silly activities.

BACK AT IT! WCF 2.2.12.

HEADLINE: UNH was invaded by 32 wildcats this week and boy oh boy were they ferocious! They dove into Durham Community church, finding their voice in theater class.  Then they demanded nourishment that only Holloway Commons salad bar could provide. They then craved the space to run, jump and dance that only New Hampshire hall could share. And after all that they had such a thirst for knowledge that the teachers, Heather and Sheana, had all they could do to keep them satisfied with brain power and luck! Oh I forgot to mention, these wildcats are very friendly! Welcome back Wildcat Friends for the 2012 Spring Semester at UNH!
