It’s almost summer break and campus was buzzing with excitement on this wonderfully warm and sunny day. Group one was lucky enough to be outside on the Stoke Hall Basketball court to play some knock out and a few scrimmages.  Some folks opted for some Uno but regardless of the activity today everyone was thrilled to be outside in the sun. During group one’s class students learned about how bubble gum is made and did some bubblelious  experiments. At a typical bubble gum plant, machines can wrap 900 pieces a minute…students had their hands full with trying to wrap 10 pieces a minute but sure worked hard with the class average of 7 pieces wrapped in one minute. So we can’t work as fast as a machine but Wildcat Friends participants sure did have fun trying! Group two celebrated the warmer months through art and planting. Students decorated murals and pots to liven up any room they would encounter. Group two then made magic mud and flubber with Justin during class. When certain house hold items are combined magical things will come about and the form…squishy, soft and sticky.

It may have been a bit rainy outside but Wildcat Friends still shined on and had a brilliant day! Group one went over to New Hampshire hall and had a blast with the Therapeutic Recreation students who had a soccer clinic set up. With passing, ball control and shooting students really got into the swing of things. Group one’s class was all about the senses; what we use to explore everyday activities. Chris, Trisha and Heather, visiting teachers, had three stations to showcase.  These included hearing, smell and touch. Students played detective and had to figure out what object they were touching, smelling or hearing and the objects were very interesting. Group two got in touch with their stress management by listing and discussing music. Students played a few music trivia games, such as Don’t forget the Lyrics and guess that song. Then students rapped up with composing a Wildcat Friends Rap. Group two then got their hands messy with the squid and Sheana. Since the squid were such a big hit the week before with group one, Sheana came back for group two.  Students found that when they opened the squid they could see and really get a feel for how a body is constructed. Some were grossed out but the majority of the class was very enthralled in the mission of the class. Two more weeks left of Wildcat Friends. Our last Wildcat Friends for the semester will be on May 4th. Many more fun and exciting things to come! Be well Wildcat Fans!
